The Artisan Hills

Tucked in between the bustling city lights and the vast planes of the Victorian outback lies a region so magically beautiful no wonder the locals like to keep it a proud secret. The Rat & Dragon crew have been commissioned by Nillumbik Shire to produce a series of destination films to showcase The Artisan Hills to friends and family of local residents.

Beautiful rolling hills, horseback riding, trails, mountain biking, farms, wineries, a miniature steam railway, artists creating paintings, sculpture, glassware, prints, photography, artisanal produce and enough chuckling laughter to make any heart warm – all tied together by the journey of a little local protected Eltham Copper Butterfly. You’re going to need more than a few days to explore…

Living the Dream in Bali & Beyond

You think a surfing image would be the best way to visually represent Rat & Dragon‘s latest production for Mojosurf in Bali, Lombok, Nusa Lembongan and Java. Apart from shooting amazing surfers and super-fun beginners catching their favourite waves, Mojosurf’s Bali & Beyond adventures are so much more than “just surfing”.

“Three years on from our first project for Mojosurf‘ in Indonesia, we’re back with a vengeance and a drone,” explains lead producer Nicola. “It’s an incredible country full of amazing people, scenery, surfing, ocean life, jungle animals, culture, food and heartwarming humanity. Not to mention the active volcano we climbed into overnight and flew the drone around in. Mojosurf & Indo, we love filming you!”

ISIC taster series “Life is good”

After years of benefiting from ISIC cards special rates worldwide, the Rat & Dragon team have produced a brand new series of mini-movies for the Melbourne based team.

“It’s great to be on old stomping ground” says creative director Saxon, “and Melbourne is such a creative city, it’s hard to not get inspired!” The series will launch as a taster for upcoming new products and app rollout to a global audience.

Luxury Private Planes to the Aussie Outback

Scaling a giant red sand dune at sunset, marvelling at 20000 years of aboriginal history, flying low level above magnificent salt Lake Eyre, exploring ironic Birdsville and enjoying a pint with friends at the pub Priscilla: Queen of the Desert was filmed in – all by private plane. Sounds good?

Join the Rat & Dragon team as they hop on board to produce films for Kirkhope Aviation‘s signature outback adventure – the Taste of the Outback. Venturing where few land vehicles can and hearing first hand from local characters what Australia’s Red Centre is all about can’t get any more breathtaking than this.

Nicola and Saxon were a total pleasure to work with. They were both professional, enthusiastic and created brilliant content. They took the time to listen to our brief and we worked together to create something whereby everyone loved the end result. I would definitely work with Nicola & Saxon again!

Skydive Australia expansion

After 2016’s epic Skydive Australia film project, the RaD team are back to film for the continent’s leading adrenaline providers. Whilst new dropzones at Noosa, Rainbow Beach and Bribie island are in the making, Rat & Dragon will be creating informative and engaging films for use throughout the tandem experience.

“Shooting for Skydive has been a definite career highlight,” explains creative director Saxon, “the rush of wind as you hang out of the door, your lens following a screaming tandem hurtling to the ground at terminal velocity whilst your TM grins his face off is incredible. I can’t wait to get back in the sky!”

Destination Melbourne book RaD for city wide promos

Spanning the entire Melbourne city and urban region, Destination Melbourne has been promoting the world’s most liveable city to visitors and locals for years. Leading up to a brand overhaul for the DYOB program, Rat & Dragon have been commissioned to produce fresh and engaging destination content over 2017.

“We’re very excited to be working with DM,” explains producer Nicola, “Melbourne has a a huge scope of beautiful experiences and locations to show off, and we can’t wait to explore our own city like never before.”

RaD shoot King Island for Kirkhope Aviation

Rat & Dragon are excited to be filming for Kirkhope Aviation, who run luxury private charter trips for adventurous groups of 6-12, and capture one of their iconic destinations that range from Lake Eyre and Lord Howe Island to Kangaroo Island, Cape York and King Island in the middle of the Bass Strait, between Port Philip Bay and Tasmania.

“Due to Kirkhope Aviation’s small but comfortable planes, guests are able to access otherwise inaccessible locations,” explains producer Nicola, “and it is our absolute privilege to capture the adventure as it unfolds.”

A short and comfortable 45 minute flight, King Island showcases stunning landscapes, world class dairy, excellent surf beaches and incredible national parks as well as quite a few shipwrecks.
